Pittsburg Power and Light (“PPL”) required an innovative solution to evaluate the current condition of their aging fleet of all-steel PPLX Coal Cars and develop and a pricing / logistics strategy to maximize scrap proceeds from various scrap dealers. Over three (3) years, Rail Industry Specialist, Inc. (RIS) negotiated pricing, coordinated rail movements on CSXT and NS and eventually scrapped over 450 coal cars for PPL. Conversely….accidents happen…. and RIS facilitated the prompt removal of scrap and railroad parts at over 35 locations / derailment sites in the US and Canada. RIS buys selective portions of derailments from railroads and “on-site” scrap service providers.
